Clean City

The task of the Project “Clean City” – construction and ongoing management of a network of ten industrial waste disposal systems and introducting of new waste processing technologies.

Project objectives

Comprehensive solution of environment pollution due to solid urban waste and reduction of CO2 emission;
Reduction of the urban waste stored on the landfill sites without previous processing;
Increasing of recoverable resourses derived from modern waste processing;
Increasing the depth of waste processing to 50%;
Using the residuals of waste processing as alternative energy source to generate electricity and heat.

Project implementation time – 4 years.

Project implementation form – business start-up on the ground of public and private parthership.

Investment parameters

Scope of financing: US$ 30-100 million.
Location: all territory of Ukraine
10 cities have been pre-selected for pilot project, including: Kyiv, Lviv, Sumy, Khmelnytsky, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, Dnipropetrovsk, Donets’k, Kharkiv and Lugansk.
Criteria for public-private partnership within the project:

Guaranteed volume of waste – 100 thousand tons per year;
Availability of the land plot near existing waste locations;
Guarantees of waste supply for the next 10 years;
Special tariffs for waste recycling;
Introducing of legislative norms contributing to waste recycling.

Payback period – up to 7 years.
Project timing – within 2 years.
Investment mechanism: public-private partnerships.
