New Life

National project “New Life”  is designed to provide high-quality and affordable healthcare for mothers and new-born children, to create conditions for sustainable demographic growth, to decrease maternal, child morbidity, disability and mortality in Ukraine, to increase the national security through establishing a network of level III regional perinatal centers.

 

Project goals

To create conditions for achieving renewable Millennium Development Goals, set by the President of Ukraine at the 2010 UN Summit:

• reduce the mortality rate of children under 5 years;
• to improve maternal health.

 

National project «New life» is the new high-quality for maternity and childhood that is foreseen to be implemented during 2011-2013.

 

Form of project implementation – creation of network of regional perinatal centers, equipped with modern tools and innovative technologies via renovation, repair operations  and technical equipment of the existing facilities(buildings) , provided by local authorities for this purpose, purchase of modern  equipment and  innovative technologies.

 

Investment parameters

• Creation  network of  the level III perinatal centers will take place in several modalities, including: as part of the existing healthcare centers of national, regional (oblast), or city coverage, or as stand-alone facilities of different regional coverage.
• Renovation and technical equipment of the existing facilities with modern tools and innovative technologies.
• Financing from state budget (about) – 40 mln. US dollars.
• Location: the whole territory of Ukraine.
• Implementation term: 2011 – 2013
• Financing mechanism:
  • Overwhelmingly local regional and city budgets;
  • Other sources – international technical assistance, sponsor support.
