Machinery

The structure of industry of mechanical engineering in Ukraine is very diverse and consists of heavy machinery, transport, agricultural machinery, metal cutting tools, electrical and radio production, equipment for other industries (such as chemical and food).

More than 2,000 companies are employed in the mechanical engineering industry. Engineering products are approximately 15% of Ukrainian exports. This sector is represented by such well-known companies as Azovmash, MotorSich and others.

Development trends

• Foreign direct investment in mechanical engineering is 1 166.6 million U.S. dollars. (as of 01/01/2011);
• Indices of investment in machinery show stable growth (with the exception of the 2009 recession);
• Increase in output was seen in all key engineering subtypes. Indices of manufacturing of industrial products has spiked in 2010 and reached 136.1% the previous year. Similar results were achieved only in 2003 with a gain of 135.8%.
